Overall

Another one of the large dating sites, date.com covers all the bases. You can create a free profile and hope your perfect mate gets in touch, or you can sign up for premium membership and initiate contacts yourself.

Date.com seems to be populated by more serious, relationship type, singles than some of the other sites we reviewed. It also boasts a truly international membership base, with some 2 million members in most countries you've heard of.

Features

All the usual features are there. With free membership you can browse all the profiles, and photos on the site. With your free profile you can also use the 'Show interest' feature, which sends your profile to the individual you are interested in.

One some sites, chatrooms are there but nobody is using them. Not so on Date.com. Chatrooms are among the liveliest of any site we reviewed, and there is a wide variety of them, covering various age groups, regions, and interests.

Date.com claims that its "top secret" matching algorithm automatically finds matches that are perfect for you, and claims a successfull match rate of 50% but of course there is no way of independently verifying that.

Horoscope based matching is also there, for those looking to the stars to point the way to their perfect date.

For more sceptical types, you can of course search the picture profiles of singles in your area and email the ones that interest you. You might find this to be the best way to find your match anyway.

Pros

2 million members worldwide. Truly international membership, well designed site and lively chatrooms.

Cons

You have to register in order to do a profile search. Most sites let you do this right of the front page without any registration needed.

Verdict

Large, international site with all the common features. There is not much to dislike, but not that much that sets it apart from other similar sites either.
