Match.com is probably the best known personals site on the web, heavily promoted with TV and billboard ads around the country. It is also one of the largest, with over 8 million members worldwide.
Try searching by location and you will find members even in the most remote areas, and if you are located in one of the urban centers you will have to narrow your search terms considerably in order to get the number of matches down to a manageable level.
Match.com doesn't post any profile until is reviewed and it does a very good job of keeping out spam profiles as well as those using profane language or adult pictures.
Features
We found a multitude of search options that match.com offers exceed those of any other personals site, at least in number. You can search by filing a highly detailed questionnaire or just enter the location and age group, and hope for the best. There is also searching by keyword, by username and a "who's online" search, You could also let match.com help out by choosing a "2-way Matching" search which will compare your profile with that of other members and find best matches for you. Other options include Personality Test matching and Physical Attraction Matching.

Other features include safe and anonymous e-mail, instant chatting, video emails, and even a double blind phone system, that allows anonymous phone conversation.
Overall, match.com's feature are more than adequate for easily finding and contacting singles in your area, although some sites do offer a bit more innovation in this area.
Pricing
Free membership entitles you to most of the match.com features and is highly recommended in order to evaluate the site. The catch is that you cannot initiate contact with other members, you can only post your profile and hope that they contact you.
In order to initiate the contact you need to pay, starting from very reasonable $10.95/month (for 6 months) up to a maximum of $24.95 (month to month).
Once you pay for the membership, that's it, you can access everything on the site. Unlike some other sites, there are no additional fees to unlock certain features.

Cons
Most of the fields in profiles ar optional meaning that some users choose to post a bare minimum of information in their profile.
